Needs a little work
I think the VF may be a little easier, but I do see some good bits. Hopefully the carb didn't let a pile of c!"p get down there and wreck the engine
What's that big thing next to the carb then?

Re: Found CCKW
I was told that this truck belonged to school and they installed a 120 volt alternator to run power tools, so we guess that the large item mounted above the alternator is the battery-charging rectifier.

Re: Found CCKW
Looks to have DUKW wheels up front and regular wheels in the rear. Great way to blow the transfer case if the tire sizes aren't matched. Keep an eye open for that one.

Re: Found CCKW
The only part of the drive train which was obviously missing is the front drive shaft. Can't break the transfer case any time soon!! THANKS for the heads-up!

Re: Found CCKW
Maybe that is why the front shaft has been removed.

Good, they were smart when they did that then. I have seen people put different sized tires on 4x4 trucks and wonder why they break parts.Ken J wrote:The only part of the drive train which was obviously missing is the front drive shaft. Does the data plate above the steering wheel call for 7.50x20 or 11.00x18 DUKW tires? If the DUKW tires are called for, it could be a different variant of the truck such as a bolster truck or a navy contract special purpose rig either of which could explain the data plate on the outside driver side cowl.

Re: Found CCKW
I still belierve the data plate on the side is removed from an M-211 and is just a patch over a hole.

NICK:
I looked carefully at the plate above the steering wheel (which you can see I did actually get an angled picture of) and it looks like 7.50-20 tires.
