Replacement CCKW manifolds

Post by RANGER »

Has anyone tried the new ones that are being manufactured overseas? I was curious about workmanship and fit. The originals intake manifold had several areas that required precision machining beside the gasket surfaces, and if the holes for the 3 intage pilot rings were not exact, the intale would not fit the head. The original exhaust was machined on the inside of the exhaust pipe flange in orfer for the straight sleeve of the exhaust pipe to enter and fit tight. Those areas are critical for leak proof operation and I hope thet the copies being made have those same features.

There are still some NOS in the cosmoline available here in the US but they are getting scarce.

When changing manifolds, be careful not to break the bakelite insulator that goes beneath the carburetor, they are hard to find. There are still a few places that offer NOS manifolds with all the correct parts needed to install them.

Post War 1980s and later non asbestos gaskets from quality Victor, Felpro, etc kits are every bit as goos as the earlier wartime Asbestos gaskets.
