Note a little CCKW prejudice in RANGER'S MOTORPOOL for the CCKW?
You're damn right! It is not as much fun or as easy to operate as a Jeep, but it has character and looks WWII.

Rain, Rain, Rain (3 -day forcast), but a good chance to sneak the nose of the CCKW out of the barn just enough to try out the Windshield Wipers to see how the early controllable wiper motors work.

NOS WWII DELCO components have been found to be reliable and trouble free, I cant say the same for a WWII issue storage battery.
I have had no failures of any NOS WWII dated DELCO components that have been installed on my CCKW.

Will there be a next CCKW in the RANGER Motorpool?
It depends, but a CCKW 750 Gallon F-3 Airfield Tanker would be tempting if a super clean example were to show up. Next would be a Chevrolet M-6 Bomb Service, one that is complete and totally restored.
I go back a lot of years with USAF history and grew up watching these in action at Dow Field across the road. It would look nice along side my rare M-1 Bomb Lift.

I do have a super clean restored M-37 that is just plain beautiful stored away that is available for trade should a CCKW Airfield Refueler or M-6 in like condition become available.

No male dogs allowed within the confines of RANGER'S Motorpool!
The only animals with peckers that get near the motorpool are birds.

The Motorpool maintains two sets of tools, GI issue special purpose tools for the WWII 1/4 Ton Truck, 3/4 Ton Truck and CCKW plus a Snap-On Tool Cabinet with polished Snap-On tools used just for Sunday tinkering and installing NOS accessories.

The Ration of dedicated bullshit from lurkers and their parting cheap shots make the decision to discontinue posting educational CCKW topics a sound one.

RANGERS MOTOR POOL vehicle are ready for operation, all of them fired off readily, no booster cables, starting fluid or assistance required to start. The credit goes to Uncle Sammy for his good training and leadership.
Thank you Uncle Sam for allowing me to serve, you did a good job training me.

RANGER has a hard time deciding to dispatch the Jeep or CCKW. All vehicles are always operational.
It pays to pay attention to the good Army Instructors. None of Rangers trucks suffer from usual sundry maintenence problems.

There is no secret to maintaining a motorpool of "turnkey" 4X4 and 6x6 trucks.
Just pay less attention to "hanging kit" and forget the misc stencils, and pay plenty of attention to the TM and what is under the hood.
Listen to RANGER once in a while,it will make your truck happy.

All are turnkey, and maintained to US Army spec. Sometimes I wonder why so many when there is only one driver. Each vehicle is a constant reminder of my pleasant Army experiences or the good old 1940s-50s days of old Dow Air Force Base, the Main Gate was just 25' across the road, and the end of the runway was 400' to one side.

The RANGER MOTORPOOL is live and well some RANGER Posts and his stock of rare CCKW parts are still popular and have contributed to some nice CCKW restorations on the sunnyside of the hobby, and used as cannon fodder on the dark side.
If it was not for RANGER'S old posts, "numb nuts" would have little subject matter to pick from.
