Very nice car
One of our early club members had a 1917 Ford model T Signal corps ambulance. More or less like a open can depot hack.
His body came out of a barn where it had been stored since the early 1920s till he got it in 1976.
He assembled it on a 1917 chassis and had a canvas top made for it from the remains of the original, His paint was almost gray. Again he copied the original paint from a protected section of the wood body.
The owner passed away in 1993 and the T made the rounds and is now rerestored and in the private colletion of the Disney family in Ca.
I will try to dig up some old pictures to scan

Hi Gordon
The T is cute, but not at all correct.
It may, at the most be considered a battle field modification. There were 2 types of T ambulances, One is a big bulky wood body. Looks very top heavy. The second is the signal corp. open cab, canvas top. Ford did supply a lot ot trucks to the military, they were similar to the Dodges. But i do not believe they ever used any fords with C cabs. Also almost all truck bodies from the era, were mostly wood. Like horse drawn carts.

As far as that T "ambulance" Gordon was kind saying it is not correct. It looks NOTHING like an actual ww T ambulance. More like sombody's fantasy . Here is a line of American Field Service FORD Model T"s in France 1917. Also a picture of the Ford T Chassis BEFORE the ambulance body was assembled in Paris by the members of the Field Service. Finally a neat Light Repair truck picture surrounded by doughboys.It is blown up from a tiny picture so resolution is not so good

I'd forgotten about the sig ambulance, maybe it was the K-5?

While we are on the topic of ww 1 Dodges anybody ever see a Dodge rail car ? It appears to be a 1917 or 18 model fitted with rail wheels and machinegun. The front splash shield around the crank hole has been removed or is missing http://www.flickr.com/photos/mr38/3572763392/

Another nice little car.

Serial number looks made up, and tow hook looks like a very late jeep one, apart from that.

Bullet hole through the siren is a nice touch.

Thought that I'd update you guys on the Light Repair truck project. I fabricated the brackets for the kerosene lamps and I was luck enough to find an original bracket for the acetyline search light . Hope to have it ready for the spring .
