idle problem Carter BBD

Post by Mike in VA, USA »

Can't seem to establish a "choke off" idle except to go too rich. Vacuum leak? Should I re-do the Intake manifold gasket? Could there be something I overlooked cleaning out when rebuilding the carb?

Could be manifold gasket, or worse, cracked manifold. If you have vacuum wipers, check for leaks there, too. How about carburetor to manifold mount? Gasket good there?

Reckon I just as well take 'er apart again and see where I messed up.
Thanks for the suggestions, it helps to have an unbiased opinion of whats wrong.
Hate the way they made the gasket on this thing('87 Wrongler). Once this is fixed it can go out and the WC can finally take it's rightful spot in the shop.
