Engine Colour

Post by Robbo »

The topic has come up again on another forum but I believe the original factory engine colour is a glossy olive green a bit darker than Olive drab.

The commonly seen machinery grey/Olive Drab colours are indicative of rebuilt engines.

Jim Carter reputedly sells the correct GMC engine paint:

Can anyone else confirm this?

contact Ron Leatherman, he has the source for a "wet olive" shade. It looks good and he is painting my new engine with it.

He's doing it because he can't delete them out right; so he's editing out anything he might have contributed, and leaving us with X's and XX's.

Just watch over the next few hours and or days as the knowledge that he's posted disappears one posting at a time...

:? :( (just not sure how I feel about it right now, just know that it sucks!)

G506
I believe so
This is a "dark" charcoal gray same as the late '30s 216 engine color
Not the medium gray found on the later engines, ie "blue flame" logo
