FOUND! Another VF!
Hi All:
Just 30 miles from my home lives another VF!
I talked to the guy who owns it, and he does NOT want it to be parted out; if anyone is interested in purchasing it, call me (909)534-2628 or PM me and I will pass on his number.
It has the gauges, the bed is not correct, if it was a dump truck then the pump, cylinder, PTO driveline, and PTO are missing. The seat is also missing. The rest of it appears to be there, except for the regular bits and pieces.

Sigh
Well found Ken.
Of course there is a reason you didn't grab it ?
Like all of us you are short of time and money, and while it's nice it doesn't have any of the big stuff you need for yours.
Personally I would have grabbed it, taken off the junk, and thrown a sheet over it, but I know this isn't an option for most people. One thing though - do keep track of it if it sells or it gets closer to the crusher.

Re: FOUND! Another VF!
Gordon, I didn't buy it because I told the guy I'd be at his house after 4:00 p.m., and he said, "OK"- but when I arrived at 4:45, he was 20 miles away, and said he might be back in 45 minutes (I had another appointment). Also, I store my relics at a friend's home, and he's very aged, so I don't know how many months or years I have left for this storage. Lastly, I mentioned I would like to trade some of the parts from this to mine, and he was adamant that the truck not be parted-out, which I wasn't going to do- I later would have sold the truck for preservation.
Anyways, the stars and the moon didn't align for me this time!
I will try again to buy it if rumors (rumours?) surface of imminent scrapping.
Hey, will you post a link to the "register" site, the running list of known, saved Dodges? I couldn't find it! Thanks!

Re: FOUND! Another VF!
I was too specific- thanks for the number!
I'd really like to have that, and it's really complete except for the bed. The worst of it is, I can afford it, but the voice in my ear (no, not the wife's!) is saying, "You ain't got the room, man!"
I'll just have to let it go, I guess..... RATS!
THANKS for the heads up!

Re: FOUND! Another VF!
What's up with the Park light on the right side cowl of the cab? I though the VF Militarys had no such lights mounted on them. Perhaps the next owner after Uncle Sam installed some on the cab?

Re: FOUND! Another VF!
There are a number of minor modifications to this truck; the lights are among them. Remember that this truck was not set up for civilian use, and yet was used in civilian life after the war.

Re: FOUND! Another VF!
There is a decent possibility that a friend of mine will acquire the truck, and so it will stay here in the Southland.

There you go.
Having too many VF's and VC's ? definitely not a problem.
