Bet you did not know that a sponge was in item of issue in order to service the CCKW.

The Ordnance Part No. was;

41-S-4037 Sponge, cellulose, coarse pore, rect. Size 6 (med)
41-S-4039 Sponge, cellulose, coarse pore, rect. Size 10 (Large)

There will now be a stampede of CCKW owners to the local auto parts store to get a Size 6 or Size 10 Rectangular Sponge.

Somebody's gotta wash the truck, and that is one of the duties of a driver, the Army supplies the sponge, the driver supplies the elbow grease.
