WTB / WTK 12V generator and regulator for my WC1

Post by Toby W »

I currently have an unknown generator installed in my WC1. It looks like a DELCO. The regulator is a newer aftermarket unit. I have no idea if they match. The truck is on 12V negative ground.

Problem is that the system is charging for about 30 seconds after the first crank, then it stops charging - regardless of RPM. The first 30s are strong charge with + 20amps (as per my original gauge)
Question#1: Why does it cut out after a short time?
Question#2: Does the 12V generator (off a 3/4 ton Dodge) fit the bracketing and pulley diameter on my T207?
If yes, I'd like to buy a working 12V generator and a working regulator (off a 3/4 ton Dodge) and install it. If the cover off the regulator is missing, no problem - I have a spare
Is there anything you can think off I need to watch out for?

If it helps, I'll be in Aberdeen this year....

By the looks of it, that seems to be a M8/M20 Genny and a modern (small) regulator.

Most probably, the regulator is faulty. Or the battery is full :)

We have a complete set available if you like, it's take-off but could test the set for you?

We can take in the genny. Does it have any numbers or a plate attached to it?

Thanks!

Toby
I have one 12 volt generator left, from a 1942 CC.
Its untested and missing the brush shield, I used the shield for the rebuilt one I sold last winter.
Its very heavy around 70 pounds so shipping will be a killer
Its to bad but this year I'm not going to Aberdeen.
pm me with your email address if your interested and I can send pictures and price.
