LS-3 Speaker parts wanted
Hello Folks,
I need a set of original screws that keep the LS-3 speaker front panel in place.
It is "something between M3 and M4" (sure: not metrical) and I have no source for those lousy screws...
In addition I need the original plug for the speaker!
- I thought the PL-54 would fit - but it seems that this type is to big (diameter to large)
Any idea what plug fit's to this speaker?
Recommendations for a source?
Thank's for any hint,
Joakim

Hi Joakim,
I think it may be the PL-68 plug you need, it's slightly smaller in diameter than the PL-54. Hard to get though, Fair radio in the US have used ones listed and here's one on EBay in the US http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PJ-068-mic-CO ... 0985313842 expensive though. Closer to home you might try here http://grc9.nl/webshop/index.php?_a=pro ... uct_id=133 the switch they sell looks in the photos to use a PL-68 but you would have to email them to confirm. Screws I don't know, sorry.
Chris.

Re: LS-3 Speaker parts wanted
Screws definitely NOT metric: Should be an 8-32 or 10-32, IIRC... And they would be a pan head, if memory serves. But NOT metric!

Right - they are panhead ones, made of steel with black surface and about 10-15 mm long (sorry that I have no picture at hand).
Actually I have only 4 original ones to keep the front cover in place - so I'm looking for a source to get a set of new ones...
Any idea?

Hi Chris,
thank's for the cool hint! I try to get one of this type - because the actual solution is simply to have the cord fiddled thru the socket and plugged it then directly into the speaker. Not the original solution - more "Russian style of improvisation".
Have a great evening downtown,
Joakim

Not sure what you have in Germany, but McMaster-Carr in the US would be my best suggestion-http://www.mcmaster.com/#machine-screws/=v9ns47

Hi Scott,
that's a great source - esp. because round head screws went out of production over here years ago.
So I had a look at the link and found the correct design:
http://www.mcmaster.com/#machine-screws/=v9w7rr
But: what size will fit?
Have a good start into 2015,
Joakim

Re: LS-3 Speaker parts wanted
I'm thinking probably the 8-32 or 10-32: I would say the best way to figure it out is to check the size if you have a threaded receptacle hole the screw goes into, using a tap from an SAE tap set... If it is just a hole, go with what fits!12th Air Force wrote:ng19delta wrote:Not sure what you have in Germany, but McMaster-Carr in the US would be my best suggestion-http://www.mcmaster.com/#machine-screws/=v9ns47

Hi Scott,
I had nothing to check the correct diameter but actually it looks like that:
So you can see in every case the difference in size between the data-plate screws and the missing front panel screws (if that helps).

Re: LS-3 Speaker parts wanted
I'd say to just pull one of those screws(pop rivets?) out & measure the hole then...
