1942 WC51 95% completed restoration

Before I get into the info about the truck, I need to add this, so I remember WHY I need to sell her, and stop pulling the ad because of a nostalgic and purely sentimental attachment... At the moment, I am close to broke: I am making the bills, but stuff is getting behind. I'm not about to lose the house or anything, but I need to get solid again... By selling the Dodge, I can afford to pay off one student loan, two credit cards, get the major student loan up to date, get the house up to date, the electric and water/sewer bills up to date, and have a little left to get a used pickup(The WC is not economical for daily use, and I need a daily driver pick up), and have a couple dollars to spare... If I keep the Dodge, I stay where I am indefinitely.- I need to get out of where I am financially... I work full time, but make just enough to keep my head above water- and raises at my job are two things- annual, and pathetic. So I have made the decision(very hard one) to sell this truck.

Located in Merchantville, NJ. 95% complete frame off restoration- NOT a bunch of parts in boxes. Still needs seats finished(media blast, repair, repaint, canvas), bed sides finished(some welding, minor repairs, stripping & painting) Gauges finished & installed, generator rebuilt(parts included), differentials properly adjusted, some other minor "here and theres" Nothing overly taxing

This has been a 5 year project or so, while I still love the truck, I have simply lost interest in continuing, and need the money and space at this point. Excellent piece to finish- either to a high standard or for the reenactor looking for a solid WC. All work done to high hobbyist standard- NOT Concours: I was building it to use myself, but I am no longer planning to get back into the hobby in any meaningful way, have no land of my own to drive on for fun, and just have lost interest...

When received, this truck was a wreck- All acquisitions and repairs were done with the intent of period correctness, over fresh from factory originality. This truck is properly equipped as any 42 WC51 in the motor pool would be- even most of the tools are there...








Nov. 43 production T-214 engine, fully rebuilt, runs well, starts easily. Carb is correct to engine(Ball & Ball) Air cleaner is EARLY louvered, correct to truck.Transmission(original case to truck) overhauled. Transfer case (original to truck) overhauled, all new bearings, etc. New clutch. Both axle housings original to truck(early, with removable covers)- differentials are late war larger ones with a cover spacer. Front axles have brand new NOS axle shafts, new bronze bushings, inner seals, wheel bearings, brakes, etc. New lower steering knuckle bearings. All new brake lines, rebuilt correct angle top MC. All brake and fuel lines have proper spiral armor over new coated steel lines. Rear axle has new brakes, small pinion bearings, carrier bearings, wheel bearings. Steering box is used, needs adjustment. Steering wheel is later war style. New tie rod ends. New MWM bed wood & metal strips, top bows, original bow corners, LOTS of stuff- too much bought and done to list here. PRICE- $18,000. US Has clean title Original USA number is known, but not painted on yet...

I'm flip-flopping on listing the 42 WC51 again... I had posted an ad- then changed my mind- about to change it again... Very stressed...

I take on way too many projects. I tend to quit at 95% completion.
I've sold a lot of toys and unfinished projects to pay bills.

Only to find.....that I keep getting bills every month.

Going on e-bay if I don't find a buyer soon- The mortgage went up bu $170/mo due to tax revaluation last year... Gonna have to sell the house sooner or later too... This is getting ridiculous...

I am truly sorry to hear of your problems, but I honestly can say I understand.

Several Years I had just bought a M5A1 Stuart tank, then my daughter had a blood disorder show up. she spent 6 weeks in 3 different hospitals, and ran up a 257,000 bill with 1 year of co-pays of apx 700 a month.

I sold all my toys to pay bills. We were down to 2 pistols, one I carried, and one my wife carried. Finally ended up going chapter 13, where you pay part of it back. Just now 10 years later, is my head barley above the water line.

Saying that to say this, do what you need to do. The toys will still be around later. I learned we do not own these things really, we just rent them. After we pass on, somebody else will have them anyway.

Very nice reply- Thanks! It is a case of "too much vs too little"- Too much outgoing, too little incoming, and some of these bills have been put off, etc... I have a plan( a cunning plan, sir!) but have to figure a few hundred over my actual intake to realize it- I am trying to force things back into proper location, but, in the meantime my credit report numbers have dropped about 100 points in a week- All the student loans which make up a single big loan, hit it as individual loans... All because the school took each piece separately, rather than one lump sum: and that is just part of it... I am planning to sell off a good bit of extra stuff I have, to get leveled and ahead: but I am not yet in the state of having to clean sweep... I am currently reorganizing and reprioritizing... I do have enough to eat, and am not on the way to being tossed out of the house, but I am frustrated beyond belief... Best part is, IF I decided to actually go into the field I am trained for- and teach in- I could probably make a good deal more- but I don't like the other trade offs, so I am currentoly sticking with a job that barely pays what t should... I wish there was another aviation maintenance school nearby which paid better: I'd be there in a shot if they wanted me. (I am even considering looking into Lincoln Tech, and teach auto powerplant instead of aircraft: it is around the corner from my current job, and if it paid better...)
