CCKW HEADLIGHT SWITCHES

Post by RANGER »

The G-508 starting with the first CCKWX had the Push Pull Combination Headlamp and Blackout switch on all trucks prior to the Open Cab Chassis Number 394577, all CCKWs after that number until the end of production had the Rotary Light Switch. The switch started out as as a 3 position unit and was changed to a 4 position unit which allows only the Service Stoplight to be used. The 4 Position switch was incorporated sometime in 1942 at the time the Blue Louvered BO Marker Lights were changed to the later marker lights on front and rear.

I have a NOS early 3 Position Headlamp Switch in my Private Stock. Remember, that the Instrument Panel still had its separate switch, and trucks with the change to the BOD Headlamp on the driver fender a BO Drive Switch was added, and it allowed the BOD light to be turned off or on in conjunction with the push-pull switch. The separate BO Drive Switch was eliminated with the addition of the Rotary Headlamp switch.

Another bit of CCKW history by good 'ol RANGER.
