GMC DUKWs, maybe?

Anything and everything would have landed on D-Day, but DUKWs and GPAs were the only things that could hit the beach on their own.

Hi Bill,

There are many photo's of Landing Craft loaded with vehicles getting ready to land in Normandy.

This was at Brixham, Devon, England.

And as it is today,

I bet the first vehicles landed in the assualt wave on the various beaches were Tanks. Don't forget that most of the Beaches were heavily Mined so wheeled vehicles may of been held-back for some time. Personally, I think there was a Jeep or a 51/52 in there somewhere. :D

I know that there was a unit of D drive tanks that was suppose to land with the invasion but many sank only a few made it ashore and in the wrong place.
