It looks like a Ben-Hur with a generator set behind it. I seem to remember reading that the geneator set was part of the whole rig when set up with radio equipment. It probably came with it from surplus.

Oh, the things that could be had in those days!

I wonder if Orange County still has it?!?

actually that would be the K-51 and K-52 rig for the scr-299,

In the link you posted, it says the SCR-299 had infallible voice communication over a wide range of frequencies with a 100 mile range. Seems like it would be perfect for Orange County Police.

i have this set up,, truck and trailer,,,,,,,, still waiting restoration,, the trailer has a spare tire mt under it,, and larger holes in the floor,, jc

I have the whole setup too: Truck, trailer, genset, transmitter, radios, antennas etc.

It is coming along slowly :?
