CCKW VALVE ADJUSTING TOOL

Post by RANGER »

TM9-801 24 April 44, Figure 58, Page 165, illustrates a Valve Adjusting Tool. some collectors seek out this tool, as it looks necessary. It is best displayed with your CCKW 2nd Echelon Tool Set as it requires much practice to be used. The GMC 270 Valves are best adjusted with a sharp Screwdriver and a 5/8" Box End Wrench. The job is not as easy as the tool makes it look, the quick action of the Lifters even with the engine idling as slow as possible, and the restricted space while perched on ones' knees on the fenders while trying to work around the hot surface of the Water bypass tube and other hot engine components do not make the job easy.
I have several of those tools and they look just fine in the 2nd Echelon Tool Kit for my CCKW, but take much practice to use.
