The Army had EOD Companies(Explosive Ordnance Disposal), their mission speaks for itself. The Trucks used for this duty were painted the normal OD color, but the front fenders were painted gloss Insignia Red. Some vehicles were equipped with Siren. In later years(50s) I noticed that the vehicles were equipped with what appeared to be locally fabricated spark arrestors on the tailpipe. These are really neat looking vehicles and guaranteed to generate questions. I do not know exactly when the US Army formed EOD Companies.
