CCKW fender to radiator guard radio suppression detail

Post by RANGER »

The 5/16" X 1 1/8"NF bolts that attach the fender to the Radiator Guard have 5/16" Internal/External tooth "Shakeproof" lockwashers. There are two per bolt, one at the head, and one at the nut, this is part of the radio suppression system used on the CCKW to prevent interference from being transmitted to nearby radios. Split lock washers are not used at this location.
One more nice little tip to place your CCKW one step closer to perfection.
This countermeasure was obviously designed by an electrical engineer.
