CCKW TROOP RACK BOARDS

Post by RANGER »

Do not forget that the heads of the Carriage Bolts are recessed into the troop seats and the the two upper boards so that the domed heads of the bolts are just flush with the surface of the boards. This is best done with a drill press before the holes are drilled. A "Speed Bit" works best. It is best to drill the holes in the troop racks with a Drill Press, the holes will be nice and straight and they will fit the first try. I used the old boards as a guide to drill the new boards. You can "C-Clamp" the new boards to the old boards. Ash, Maple or Oak are the best wood to use. I did mine 20 years ago and they have not warped or cracked.
