It has been noted that Army Jeeps sometimes jump out of second gear, which has been a common occurance to Army and Civilian Jeeps alike the past 60 years. The culprit is accumulated wear of the transmission parts capped off by a worn Second Gear bushing. The bushings used to be availible separately, but have been out of the Jeep and Warner Gear system for decades. Best cure is a NOS Second Gear, as the problem will not go away with worn parts. Whad happens is that the worn second gear will rock on the mainshaft and nudge the synchronizer blocking rings just enough to cause the synchronizer hub into neutral. The fix is a new Second gear plus new synchronizer blocking rings and possibly a new synchronizer hub.
