Rear Fenders on a WC-53

Gentlemen,
I'm in need to find out if there was a type of welting or rubber on the WC-53 rear fenders? Both of my fenders had been taken off through the years. so there was nothing there. Pictures and dimensions would be helpful.

yes, there is welting between the WC 53 rear fenders and the body. This is readily available from John Bizal at Midwest Military, John will supply cut to length.

Hello,

as more information on Dodge details became available during the last years: is there any proven/ sourced timeline when Dodge used which material for the rear fender welting on Command Car, Carryall and Ambulance?

On different historic photos it looks like there were some with canvas and some with rubber welting on the rear fender.

All the period historic photos I have seen of the 3/4 ton command cars all seem to have the green canvas welting (including the seal underneath the windshield) All of the factory photos in David Doyle's U.S. Dodge book also show the green canvas welting and seals. Black rubber welting sticks out like a sore thumb in black & white photos and I have not found one yet. Do you have any original photos of 3/4 tonners with the black rubber welting and seals?

Hi Steve, there are some photos where it might be rubber as it looks a bit to thin for canvas in my opinion. It is not black but maybe painted od. They are 1/2 tons, but have seen some nice 3/4 ton restorations with rubber. Thats the reason for my question.

I have the rope with canvas from John and Marry Worthing installed on my CC and I‘m really happy with it.
Just thinking of looking underneath it preventively if there might be some rust after some years with the sometimes wet canvas.
