Hi TWM,

You'll receive your build card in the form of a photo copy, or a print out, on a white piece of paper. The quality of the scan can differ depending on the quality of the original photo on micro film.

Scan the build card on a scanner, usig a high resolution, say 150 or 300 dpi, and use the color setting-not black and white or grayscale setting. Use the sharpening tool, of you're using one, sparingly and try inverting the scanned image (from positive to negative film-like an old black/white negative) if the text is hard to read. That can sometimes bring out text that is hard to read otherwise.

Once you have the scan, send it in an e-mail to Sylvia. Presto!

Hi TWM,

Goran already explained - thanks :D - just in case you don't have a scanner at hand:
you are also welcome to take a digital photo and send it to me.
I will gladly help out with sharpen it and bring out the text if hard to read.

Hope we can reach the 100 buildcards until 6th of June 2012  8)

Cheers

I'm almost ready to send off for my Build Cards, all five of them, so I'm going to be sending $125 - ouch.

What did other non-US folks use to send the money - International Money Order or the like ? I've used those before and they are a complete pin.

Any other payment methods available for outside the continental US ?

Hi Gordon.

This is a tough one. Sending 25 USD in cash in an envelope is ok, if the money happens to get pinched, but 125 USD?

I suggest finding a friend in the US that can write a check for the sum, and send to Chrysler, together with the paperwork showing you as the rightful owner, and reimburse him/her via PayPal.

A roundabout way of doing it, I know. I wonder if they even accept a money order (it costs money to cash that ruddy thing, too  )

Good luck,

Goran

Hi Gordon,

I sent cash USD, too.

Years ago - before Paypal - I always used cash for paying ebay items in the USA. For buying and selling even more expensive collectors items, it always worked fine and everything arrived in both directions.
... however today I would be afraid of sending a bigger sum cash (because of the postal way, not because of the recipient)

Greetings
Sylvia

I sent a $25 check in with my request in early December 2010 and they never cashed it. When I discovered that I had submitted the wrong SN, I sent in another $25 for the correct build card. They returned it even though it was my mistake. They seem like really reasonable and responsive folks. Keep those build cards coming...it's a great data base.

I submitted an incorrect SN when applying for a build card so I got a card that is not for my vehicle. I have since obtained the correct one. Does anyone want a copy of the incorrect build card for the data base anyway?

Has anyone ever considered approaching Dodge archives about getting access to build card files?

I doubt very much that they would let other people into their archives. The build cards are managed by the Walter P Chrysler Museum staff and I suppose its a nice source of income for them too.

It would have been nice to digitize the whole collection and make it available on line.

Of course, it would be great if you could get a reproduction of the BC Dodge has.

I have asked the Museum Director, in the event that I can go and see, let me take notes on the sheets.

He is on vacation now and I am waiting for him.

I think that has been asked before, Juan.

They do not have the Build Cards, just photomicrographs ( photographs ) of them, hence the quality of the print out varies.

The request for my Build Cards was posted about a week ago, but then I need to allow for postage times across the Atlantic. What sort of turn round time have we all been getting on Build Card copy requests ?

I'll admit I though I'd better ask for mine now as you can't guarantee this service will always be available - at least at this price.
