Re: 3/4 Ton Database

Post by carryall »

Hi all, some news from Norway again.
On my Wc 57 I have discovered the hood number in 2" lettering it is like this:

81673639 WC57 20294925
And body# 4219/20815

My friend has the following numbers (also undiscovered hood number)

81673594 WC57 20295085
And body# 4219/20811

Strange thing is that his car is earlier in all numbers, but not on the registration number?
Regards from Norway.
Raymond.

Hi,
I have added your actual hood numbers to the database...the calculated ones I had previously listed were both about 3000 off...glad you found your original numbers!

My garage: Restored Old Henry, and have had this WC51 on the road around 3 years now... Currently finishing a brace of Ben Hur trailers, and starting a 67 Galaxie fastback. Concurrent with the WC I restored a 74 TR6... Oh the joys.

I started today, but due to a lighting issue, sanded through part before I saw the dark blue markings! ARRRGGGHHH! It is a WC-51. The cab number is 4290-28313, and the original engine number is unknown: It currently has a P-23 engine in it! :p I'll be doing more sanding, more carefully, tomorrow- and with better light!

I just rescued this one from a scrapyard in Arizona, and had it dragged(on a U-haul car carrier) all the way across the USA to New Jersey. Can't wait to get into the meat of this restoration!

Hi- I know the chassis number is correct, and the cab number is correct, my only question is still the hood number... (By correct, I mean that is what's stamped there... God only knows if the cab was swapped at some point!) I tried estimating date based on the build cards elsewhere on the site, and bracketing the serial number and extrapolating, but my estimate came out around the first week of January. I am most likely wrong(especially since the body tag says 42) and like your estimated date of production better. I have to get one of those build cards from Chrysler Historical...Pics are at: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid= ... 0937835961 (have to log in to facebook to access...Sorry- have to get another photohost & post)

Tjenare Doktorn,

The build card can take up to a couple of months before you get it from Chrysler. I guess the pile up the applications and go through the bunch once every two weeks or so...

Don't forget to post you build card once you get it.

728671 may be a good registration number for your ambulance

Hi Divingrocks.

325!!? Did you ever think what you might have started? Only another 167,000 WC51 and 52 or so to go according to the data I've got.

well, I have only collected info on survivors, not full production...a mere .01 percent of the 300,000 produced ain't bad!

Hi there..
Only just got around to posting my details....oops!!

Type - WC51
Chassis - 8160468
Reg. no - 2113889 (stamped onto chassis under chassis number)
Engine - T214-207559 (with further rebuild stamps/plates of 3361-52-22 and 461-00 RA / date of delivery 12-52

Personally I think it is either VERY late Dec 1942, or VERY early Jan 1943.

Hope this is of use..

Hi Gareth,

You wrote: "Chassis - 8160468" - there seems to be a number missing there. My frame number 81741448, 8 digits long.

The best way to get an exact production date is to send 25 USD (Cash in an envelope is OK, I sent money that way. There's a minute risk that the cash will disappear on the way, but it's never happened to me) to Chrysler Corp and get the build card for your vehicle. Link here:
