Seat Repair/Rebuilding

Post by ClosedCab »

Looking for ideas for seat repairs on my WC-12. I have the seat back frame, and I think it can be saved wih a lot of work, but the bottom frame is too far gone. Thinking about making a plywood bottom and using foam, but sure would be a lot of foam. Any ideas or good web sites on seat frame/spring rebuilding? Thanks for the help!

Boy bottom seat springa are hard to find for the 3/4, I suspect almost impossable for the 1/2 tons. Most folks go with the plywood/closed cell foam. If you are not in a super hurry I would put out the word you might be able to locate a rebuildable set. Call John Bizal at Midwest Military he seems to be able to pull a lot of rabbits out of his hat.

There was a super nice set of back and bottom springs on e-bay recently, but they were gold plated. There's anothr set on now, not quite as nice, but would work, be interesting to see what they go for.
Guess I will go the plywood & foam route.

seat springs

Contact a compamy called Car-Line in Beaumont Texas. They specialize in Model A Ford parts, but also build seat springs for various vehicles. They built a new back spring for my G-506. Why buy a 60 year old spring that might break when used again? I believe the cost was about $250 but don't quote me. Sorry I don't have phone number at my finger tips.
