Hood number range ?

Post by maigaard »

Hi all,

I know that Juan (and others) are researching this, but don't get any wiser reading into all the detailed info in the latest posts. Which hood number range would be reasonably realistic for my WC-52 ? Build date August 19th 1944, chassis # 81723127.

Hello Peter,

From my WW2 Dodge studies and databases, I would estimate that your WC-52's original hood number should have been in about the 2211825 to 2212075 range. I hope this is of some help.

Hola Tom,

I would like you to review your data. And because?. The registration numbers 2211825 to 22129075(???) ... are from model WC-51. Or maybe I'm wrong...

Peter, your WC-52 is from August 19, 1944.

In theory we have:

1.- With the W-398-QM-w-652, W-374-ORD-2864 contract number, they were ordered:
1-A 18,874 units, registration number 2160419 to 2179292.
2-A 19,280 units, registration number 2180276 to 2199555.
3-A 90 units, without r.n., for the Navy.
4-A 1,350 units, r.n. 2232075 to 2233424.

Really we have:

2-A Units delivered with that contract number 374-2864, W-652:
28,025 units in 1943.
129 units in 1944.

2-B Units delivered with the contract number 374-6322
16,150 in 1944.

Here a curious fact occurs...Under contract 374-6322, only 40 units are ordered. How is it possible that 40 are ordered and 16,150 are delivered?...

I think there is an error here: I think they were wrong, but this is a guess.

So Peter, here we have a problem.

My theory is that the 28,025 and the 16,150 units are of the same contract, 374-2864, W-652, in this case, Peter, your car can be between the following numbers: 2180276 to 2199555 or 2232075 to 2233424.

Most likely, it's between 2180276 to 2199555.

With other information I have, but I do not want to be heavy, your car would be between the number 5,500 before the last, that is to say: 2199555 - 5500 = 2194055.

I'm sorry I can not be clearer, but the information is confusing.

Hope this can help you.

Regards,

Juan.

Hello Juan,

My WW2 Dodge database shows for the '44 WC-52 :

Model - Winch - Starting Reg. # - Ending Reg. # - Contract - # of Units
WC-52 -- Yes -----2218882 ----------2231849 -------ORD-6322 ---12968 Weapon Carrier w/w

This data was taken from the Ordnance Acceptance Record Book dated 1 October, '45.

Thanks Tom,

I'll check, but I'm afraid we have different references.

This that shows all. Two people, Dodge lovers and we have different references. It is very difficult.

Regards,

Juan.
