The cab type has to match the bed side drilling for the seats and that's it.
When I see bed sides drilled for transverse seats on a truck with a hard cab I know that either the bed, or ( much more likely ) the cab, has been changed.
... and finally, as they say on the news, there is a third variation, or at least there was on the VC half ton and I think it lasted into the WC half ton, which was hard cab and no seats.
I've never actually seen one of those, and I assume it was just the same as the normal hard cab truck but the bed sides weren't drilled for seats of any kind.
That's pretty much it
