Body Number Plates

Post by Ian Jamieson »

Hi folks,
I have purchased a set of repro data plates for my WC 53 as all of the originals were missing. However I have not been able to locate a supplier for the body number tag (data plate). Does anyone out there know someone who makes these? Or the exact domensions so I can get one done here in New Zealand?

Cheers

If your referring to the zinc Budd body tag, I don't think anybody reproduces those. You may want to list your request in the "market" section of this forum. Also keep an eye on Ebay. I have seen a couple of them come up. One was for an WC-54 and the other was for a command car WC-56/57.

I could probably get you one for a WC62 if that is better than nothing.. Not 100% sure but I can give it a shot.

Hi All,
thanks for your responses, I will probably sacrifice a spare repro data plate to make one, as I want to stamp the correct body number onto the plate. (I have the build card). I had hoped someone made repro's.

Cheers

My garage: Restored Old Henry, and have had this WC51 on the road around 3 years now... Currently finishing a brace of Ben Hur trailers, and starting a 67 Galaxie fastback. Concurrent with the WC I restored a 74 TR6... Oh the joys.

What about the guy in Poland- "Lt. Horne" was the name he used to trade under on e-bay- I believe he made the data plates in zinc, perhaps he could knock one of the body tags out in zinc, too?

Ian, thanks for asking this question, it's one I've been pondering over for a while myself. Now another job to add to the list.

Richard, could you tell me what size and thread are the screws that fix the plates to the cowl please?

Cheers,
Chris.

Hi Richard,
Thank you for that.
Does anyone know if it's the same fixings for the cowl mounted plate or if they are a UNF/UNC thread?

Regards,
Chris.

Hi Richard, thanks for the drawing, that very helpful.

Chris, I understand that data plates that are specific to a vehicle (eg chassis number or body number) are riveted in place, the plates that are non-specific (radiator drain etc) were screwed in place with self taping screws.

Cheers

Sorry to revive this old thread, but could anyone tell me the size of the rivets that fix the Serial Number Plate to the glove box door please?

Regards,
Chris.
