Post by wareagle4590 »

For your 100% accurate WC-26 restoration you will need the square brass washers for the seat mounting. Check out ebay #111757668764

Also started on the top:
As Gordon outlined on his web site, made wood inserts to make up for the difference in height. Used 5/4 pressure treated deck lumber, fills the channel completly.
Image

Stapled felt to wood insert.
Image

Cut, test fit, remove and painted underside.
Image
Installed roof panel, bent over tabs. Had to use three rivits as the tabs would not hold.

picked up fenders and hood from sandblaster, the fenders need a lot of work.
cut out rusted metal and welded in new metal. No body filler yet, just primer.

Front fenders in better shape. Put them on my test stand, will make it easer to dolly, fill and reprime.

Both rear fenders are now dollied out, I find bolting them to the body helps hold them while you work the metal.

Hi Phil,

very impressive to see this result - compared with the first photo's and the original condition.

Having a look at your nicely repaired fenders I think I should replace my one's in the future too.

Great job, hopefully this beauty will be soon back on the road. :D

Keep 'em Rolling,

May I ask. Who cut your glass? I know VPW carries the windshield glass as well as the side window glass, but the side window glass they carry is only for the trucks without metal surrounds like our 1/2 ton military uses. It's a different size. Did you find a vendor who carries it or had it cut custom?

I used a local glass guy that services body shops in the area. I gave him the frames and the old glass for a pattern. All the glass for the carryall was $595. I don't know if he would ship or not, small opperation. If you can't find anyone local let me know and I will provide contact info.
