Re: CCKW 355
Misprint, or it is double struck. Many CCKW Chassis Frames got renumbered during a Rebuild and the replacement chassis number was ground off in order to match it to the truck being rebuilt. have seen several this way.

Re: CCKW 355
Thanks Ranger. I don't think it's a misprint. It could be a re stamp like you suggested. The last 5 in 355 does look different than the other 5.
Ranger do you have any idea what 355 would represent?
Thanks

Of course if it was a rebuild , that would explain why the internals are in such good shape . Tranny looks brand new inside.

Re: CCKW 355
There is no such truck as the CCKW 355, the stamping is an error. Do you have a pic of the truck in question? As I said, the Chassis Numbers have been altered, many CCKW's have had this done during a rebulld when the original chassis is not repairable.
It would be nice to see the complete chassis number, suffixes and prefixes.
If in fact the chassis prefix starts witg "C" it indicates that it was a 1941 model truck.

Re: CCKW 355
Well, i took a photo of the serial number. Zoomed the lense in close. After looking at the zoomed in photo you can see that is 353 not 355.

Re: CCKW 355
The Chassis numbers have little descrepancies that are noted, many times the chassis number has been ground down and changed using new numbers with same font leading one to believe it was done at the assembly plant.
