Drained Transmissoin Today!

Post by andy »

Today I went ahead and drained the Transmission, so I could see what the oil look like. First, can't out a little bit of water, and next came out what I could only describe as MUD! It was brown like mud, sure didn't look like oil . Does anyone have any idea what kind of solvent I could run through it before I re-fill it? Thanks Andy

I'd use Kerosine or Diesel which has some oil in to keep the bearings properly lubricated. Also' I'd fill up the Tranny with it and let the Kero or Diesel sit in there for a day or two. Then drain the stuff out, refill and run the tranny through each gear at slow speed. Just my 2 cents woth. LOL :D

Dozer is right use diesel fuel just don't run it long as it has very little lubrication property and will be hard on the bearings.
