Found a WC-53 with:

VIN: 81586332
Hood: 2089456

and it seems to be correct.

Hola John,

Yes, it can be correct.

It would be very interesting to see the B.C..

If it is correct, your vehicle was ordered with the contract number: W-374-ORD-2840, W-398-QM-DA-521.

Under that contract 688 units were delivered in 1942 and 84 in 1943.

Your vehicle is from the end of November 1942?.

Regards,

Juan.

Hola Ulrich,

I think that the body plate is not correct, but I'm not sure..

WC-55, VIN 81 530310.

The two B.C. closest we have are:

81 529912, 14 may 42...body nº 4728

81 530904, 5 jun 42,,,body nº 6418.

Although in the WC-55 model there is a lot of confusion in the sequence of numbers.

However it would correspond a body tag 5000, for example. Although I do not rule out that it could be number 2621.

What strikes me is the 4290.

In all B.C. we have the model WC-55, the body model is 86. Therefore the body tag is 4286.

But I may be wrong and it corresponds to 4290, which means that the vehicle was delivered as: Bucket seat body.

Therefore I ask for help:

To the owners of model WC-55, what body tag does the vehicle have?

Regards,

Juan.

That seems about right Maurizio. Unlike the smaller quantities of earlier trucks, the later WCs were produced in big batches, and WC-51 / WC-56 split is not shown for a chassis batch, so you can only approximate.

thank you Gordon... hopefully someone else will help to have a more detailed guess...

I can help instead with details of my "under restoration" WC-21, for which I also have the build card:

s/n 81501588
DoD 11 6th 1941
eng # T-215-6644 ( I don-t own the orig engine, but a later # T-215-12430, probably casted on nov 14th
USA # W-235959 both on cowl and cargo body
body number 19573

ciao

Hola Maurizio,

Possibly it is from the production order T-10447, contract 374-6322, which in 1944 21,549 units were manufactured (+ 212 units year 1945), and with military registration from 2 235 399 to 2 257 159.

We have a B.C. very close to your car, the 81 722 458, of August 11, 1944 and with Sched. 27212.

81 722 407, so doing a subtraction, we would have a Sched. No. 27,161. Agree?.

All this is just numbers and assumptions of mine, the reality I do not know.

So far everything is clear, but the following is a little bit, just a little bit more complicated.

We have 18,966 units manufactured under order T-8351 beginning with Sched 1,001. Therefore, it is my theory, Sched 19,967 is the last of this manufacture.

So your manufacturing order, T-10447, would start with Sched No. 19,968.

Since your car possibly has Sched 27,161, it would be vehicle number 7,194 of this build order (27,161-19,968 = 7,194).

Therefore your military registration could be: 2 235 399 + 7 194 = 2 242 592 [/ b].

All this is possible ...

Saludos,

Juan.

Maurizio,

If I do my calculations for your WC-21, I get the military registration 235 967 and you say it is 235 959.

Therefore my calculations may be correct. Just a difference of less than 10.

Saludos,

Juan
