Information needed, G506 box.

Post by BrianC »

I need some information regarding the construction of the tool box at the rear of an early all steel cargo box. I am working from the remains of a box and there is not enough material left to figure out how the tool box was originally attached to the under side of the cargo deck. It appears that the floor and front of the tool box are one piece with the front bent up 90 degrees. This front piece is notched to fit inside the longitudinal sill (frame) and then spot welded to the front of the #3 cross sill. The floor is almost completely gone so I don't know if it originally fit inside the longitudinal sill or was fastened to the underside of the sill and then welded. I assume that it would also be spot welded to the rear sill. I would appreciate help from anyone who has knowledge of how the early box was constructed.

Thanks Brian Campbell
