how cool......Chevy/GM bolt head markings

Post by daveyboy »

Never noticed before I guess... But , like the Dodge specific bolt markings, and the "script" bolts ya see on jeeps, apparently the GM/Chevy had its own too?

Noticed them last night while replacing seals on the rear end of the transfer case. Cleaning up all the bolts with a wire wheel revealed the markings on all of the bolts used. An "A" and an "O" and a small "c" if I remember correctly.

Very neat... I guess I just never noticed before, or maybe these are some of the few originals left on my truck and have never been touched by a previuos owner in the past.

In any case, very neat. I need to take a picture and post.

yea.. maybe someone has a picture they can post of one... Like I said, I guess either I never really looked, the heads were all covered in mutiple layers of paint, grime, grease, etc, or were always replaced with non-factory bolts.

these apparently had never been removed from the truck, given the very heavy layer of grease build up. So they must be the factory bolts.

Like I wrote, I cant remember exactly the nomenclature on the head.
Maybe someone else can chime in an note the exact letters/numbers.
