Hello Johnny,

in my opinion the plates from Steve Kaegi are correct ... and I really like them, have them on my CC, too.
Just be sure to order the correct maintenance plate TM 10-1531 or TM 9-808 depending on your VIN.

During WW2 they used zinc and brass plates. For an early truck I would choose brass.
Here are pics from original brass data plates for comparison, there were different scripts (serif and non-serif) used:

another update.

Prigress is slow as I work away from home now and only have weekends to get work done and take care of my family.

But finaly most of the small bits are done and the frame is primed today. Green primer, i know it should be red but its the best thing i could get my hands on and it even was a nice price.

There is a gentleman on the forum here, that is out of Poland I believe, that carries brass data plates. I got my set from him and they are OUTSTANDING to say the very least

If this something that you might be interested in , let me know and I will dig out his information and pass it on to you.
As far as getting your plates lettered, there is gentleman who list in the MVPA mag that offers data plates, that will letter your plates for a small cost--under $15 for all plates, I think.
He did a set of alumium plates for me and will be doing my new ones 8)

Good luck in your project. I am on the down hill side of my resto on my 42 WC 51. and John from Mid West is my best friend
