Driving my VF-402 for the first time....!!

Post by Ken J »

Hi All:

Here's a link to the page on YouTube where I posted a video of me driving my 1940 VF-402 for the first time since I bought it. By the looks of the vehicle at the time of purchase, I don't think it had been driven for 15-20 years.

No brakes, no oil pressure gage, no temperature gage, no door latch, gas can lashed to the fender, no charging generator, ignition switch and coil lashed to the left nose rod, REALLY stiff transmission, etc., etc. :thumbup:

Enjoy! :D

Things to do;

1. Fix that door latch.
2. Lose the flatbed, or at least cut it back to the right length.

Apart from that, steady progress...

Thanks, Gordon!

Actually, I'd like to get the oil and temp gages and generator working, then probably change the oil in all the gear boxes and the engine again. And I AM worried a little about the water pump and distribution tube. Since I don't have any door hardware yet, that'll hafta wait. And yes, I can't wait to fix the bed (it still has the original Budd Corporation builder's tag on it!).

Thanks very much! I plan to get the following done this week (on vacation):

1) Oil pressure gage
2) Water Temp gage
3) Generator
4) Rear flat tire fixed

It's already been fun just because I didn't have to do three years of work just to drive it.....
