data plate on rear axle

Post by 42 Chevy »

While finishing up my PM on the Diamond T, I discovered a data plate on the rear axle, which states Built by others for
the US Goverment
under contract for
Timken Axle
Detroit, MI.

I have no clue if this was a post war rebuild or if it is orginal, however I have found 2 data plates, 1 on the front axle and 1 on the transmission, both dated 1966, stating "Overhault" and the rest is in I believe Danish"

Also, as Ranger has previously stated in another post, check your axle vents, all 3 of mine were clogged up...............

Using VOV and Joel Gopan for the parts, PM by the TM is the only way to go....

And remember that there are identical looking replacements, they are not marked and if the wrong one is selected, it will build unwanted pressure.

G-509 Axle Housings with Manufacturer's Data Plate were the norm.
