The many variations of CCKWs required a total of 40 different Data Plates.
US ARMY HONOR GRADUATE MECHANIC, Restorer of fine Jeeps, MV's, MVPA 40+yrs, DAV, Army Aircrew member, Donor to Military Museums & CAF, MV Hobby since 1945

And yes there were brass replacements long before the repro marketwas created. I have a couple of GI Issue Brass data plates on my CCKW. They were available by GM part number. During the post war years ordering by the correct part number would result in original or brass, the SNL was colorblind.

Am looking for GI Issue replacement CCKW Brass Data Plates for my CCKW.
These were installed in place of the OEM zink type during postwar rebuilds.
I have some rare GI Issue US-6 Studebaker Data Plates, Chev 4X4 Tractor Shipping Dimension and also some 3/4 Ton WC Brass Plates for TRADE ONLY toward GI Issue CCKW Dashboard Data Plates.
I already have the CCKW Shifting Data Plate.
