Brake drums

I have 4 new brake drums
2 are NOS with the grind slot to set brake pad distance.
2 are old stock but not original, likely made for greek army M37 by NBG.
The NBG drums dont have any slot or opening to set brake pads.

Is there a way to set brake pads when you don't have an opening like original or the grinded slot?

They used to make a set up tool for setting fixed anchor brake shoes but finding that tool may be impossible. i have seen a few that work on old cars but wont work on these axles. maybe drill or cut a window so you can set by the book?

I have one of those tools to set the brake shoes with the drums. Works pretty good. I like it. The part number of the one I have is in the second photo if one felt inclined to search for one. I see them pop up for sale from time to time. I found one that went at auction for $15. I had to pay $25 for this one:

Ok I see. I will mill slots as per original, faster than finding that neat tool.
