CCKW on Government Liquidation

Post by 36th Tom »

On a whim I did a search for CCKW on Government Liquidations and this guy popped up!

http://www.govliquidation.com/auction/v ... vertTo=USD

I would love to know it's story. Too bad it is in Utah, or I would bid on it. It looks in decent shape with a full set of tires and some extras in the back. It looks from the pictures that there is a (Norwegian?) tag on it.

I hope someone who can appreciate it snags it.

Every once an in a while WWII stuff still turns up as Government Surplus. A few months back I saw an M2 Halftrack! The gun skate ring was removed, but the rest of it was there.

Heard that the halftrack was in real bad shape that the pictures didn't show. So just a caution.

Heard through the grapevine that this truck is out of someones collection that they gave to government liquidations to auction off.

This appears to be a very early GMC, probably one of the 15.000 or so first made. It has the civilian speedo, no black-out light, serial number is supposedly # 089, so a VERY early one... I was at an auction in Norway in 1994 where regular GMC's sold for 1.000-3.000 NKR and an early one sold for 14.000 NKR!

I think Ive heard it's from the Jack Tomlin estate?? there is the name of a trust listed on the auction page, something like JBTTrust (just going from memory). This is NOT a typical government surplus auction, but is rather subject to separate terms as described on the auction page.

I would just love to have the 7 early "Tractor Tires" in the bed.
