Very nice WC-51, Joakim. It was nice of you to give it a good home.

Hey, Joakim, congrats on that nice truck, and your friend can still enjoy it, he just doesn't have to change the oil !
You lucky Europeans got to keep all of the pass-thru trucks, with the entrance around the spare tire. We in the states have none of them.
It's a beautiful truck. Glad you found it!

Latest update from the Dodge-Front:
We had some pretty nice sunshine yesterday - so I used the chance to park my WC's side by side by side on the yard.
If someone would have told me one year ago that I would have two WC's on the yard I would have reacted in a classic way, commenting it with a simple statement: "NUTS!"
A quite strange situation: I had planned to sell the WC52 and to pay the WC51 with the money out of that deal... But: I spent some bucks on several repairs of the WC52 and the eBay folks don't want to pay for that...
Okay - I don't have to waste money / to sell it below that price so I will keep it I guess...
- Not the original plan - and I have still only "one arse" that can drive a Dodge - but on the other hand what a strange (nice) surprise!
And a North Africa Campaign WC is not common too...
So here are the latest pictures:

Re: Old WC's never die - they just move on! :-)
Well, the work on my "new" WC51 goes on and I'm glad that I have some days vacation - allowing me to change some more details and to "close some gaps":
I prepared the spare wheel and the early style headlamp brush guards for Fritz - our sandblasting expert that owns a WC63 and a Hotchkiss J**p. So now I have a pretty nice pile of parts that have to be sandblasted: 1 Wheel, 2 Brush Guards, 21 Wheel Nuts... - All to be galvanized after sandblasting.
See:
and
Ordered in addition H4 headlamps with parking light to get rid of the sealed beam ones. Due to the fact that my marker lights are now in use as indicators ist the parking light question solved that way too.
I will pick up this weekend the new spare wheel tyre as well as new seat covers. So the work with all those nice new parts is on a good way. I hope that everything is finished then in time before the Schmidtenhöhe event starts.
Keep them rolling, Joakim

Re: Old WC's never die - they just move on! :-)
Spearhead markings for my Dodge
Due to the "ongoing colour mess" (no matching OD for my Dodge found up to now) is the respray next winter nearly sure.
In addition to that I want to change the markings to "our local troops" - the 3rd armoured division "Spearhead" that was based in and around Frankfurt since the end of WW2 until it became a inactive unit.
See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3rd_Armore ... ed_States)
Question: Has anybody pictures of Dodge WC vehicles from WW2 (or links to such ones) that shows the markings of this unit as a sample for me?
Thank's for every hint, Joakim

Hej Joakim,
I know of a company in the States that produce documentaries using original WW2 film. They sell a video of the 3rd Armored:
http://www.combatreels.com/3rd_Armored_Division.cfm
Price 19.95 USD plus shipping.
Buy the DVD and you will be BOUND to find markings for your Dodge!

Re: Old WC's never die - they just move on! :-)
So summer has finally arrived (about 8 weeks to late) and it was time to take down the canvas.
Finished before the fitting of the new H4 headlights and early style brush guards.
I drove then to the US-Car & Bike Sunday meeting at our local Harley Shop and enjoyed Beer, Bratwurst (German BBQ Sausages) and the sun.
So that was the "perfect day".
Keep them rolling, Joakim

Re: Old WC's never die - they just move on! :-)
The Dodge looks magnificent Joakim. Are those the H4 headlight lens inserts? They don't look out of place at all. Was there any difficulty getting them or installing them?
I've done a similar thing with my WC63 using inserts that also had provision for a parking lamp bulb but they had to be procured through a specialty automotive lighting supplier. They were also a little tricky to instal.

"thank's for the Flowers".
And no - the complete thing is quite "stupid & simple" because you can use any aftermarket headlight for HD or Custom MC with the identical diameter (and "E" marking on the glass for aproved parts is necessary in Germany).
I bought them new from a HD tuning shop via eBay, payed about 25,- Euro each and they came with parking light insert, bulb and cable, as well as the H4 socket and cables.
Fitting was no problem, only the wire for the parking light has to be added.
Looks like that now:

Re: Old WC's never die - they just move on! :-)
Hello Folks,
I started to put the XL-Puzzle together on last Sunday so that I could drive a bit around in the sun.
Added some NOS canvas stuff that I bought at Normandy.
The next step is now to "upgrade" the Dodge with a M24 mount and cradle for the Cal. .50
So I want to work on the backbody parts, respray the truckbed first and then fit the mount to it.
I hope that those "extras" are ready "in time" for the Schmidtenhöhe MV event.
Some pictures of the actual "status quo" can be found here:

Hello Folks,
now I had some time to do one of the "nice things": checking the production date of my WC51.
The VIN of my WC51 is: 816 01 621 - so it's a early in Feb. 1943 produced vehicle.
I contacted now Chrysler Heritage for the exact day of production.
Let's see what they are telling me.
