WC51 MG Mount

Post by halifaxgroup »

I just ran across a picture in a book of a WC 51 (or52) with an MG ring mount. The more I look at the picture the more it looks like an M36 ring mount, not an M50 mount. I went out to my garage and looking at my WC62 with the M50 mount, the picture in hand, and TM9 2016 all at the same time; it is definitely not an M50 mount. The rear leg of the mount has a pronounced bend. The picture shows a straight post, and in a different location. I stood at the same angle in the garage to verify. The large arms of the mount attached to the M49 ring are also different than those of an M50 set-up. It really looks to be an M36 or M36A1 or M36A2. The mount must have been a field add-on. The picture was taken in Paris, August 26, 1944.

I can scan the picture out of the book, but I do not know how to post an image. If someone can send me their email address I can email the image to be posted.

Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
