Aye Phil,
for some reason tourists to Scotland think the clocks are different to the rest of the world
Whit dy'e men accent? Ah dinna harve noo accent
While checking in for my flight from Vancouver I overheard a young Canadian lady in front of me tell the check in clerk she was going to Te Puke (we pronounce a long e so no, it does not sound like the slang for vomit) ie Tee Puk eee.
I informed her of her mistake, where she pormptly told me I was wrong as her travel agent in Toronto assured her of the correct pronunciation. Like what the hell would the agent know???
I told her she would have a great time there with her accent. She quite indignantly informed me she didn't have an "Accent" (Imagine, a Canadian with out an accent???). When I asked her if I had an accent she said, "of course you do". When I told her every-one in New Zealand spoke like I did the penny finally dropped.
Sigh!!
