M-8/M-20 ARMORED CAR

Post by RANGER »

The engines used the same color paint as did the GPW. I have shipped Jerry Biro the leading Hercules specialist in the USA, dozens of NOS items for this engine.
Jerry is a major player in 30s-60s obsolete industrial engine parts, especially Hercules , and Continental. He also has items for Radial Tank engines. I have shipped him tons of items.

I'm not a Jeep guy, so what color is that. Ford Gray? OD?

Does the engine color look close to the one on ArmyCars USA restored M-20?

It can be seen on the restoration page. Thanks Paul

Some have described it as Ford Tractor Gray, and the Paint Number is out there floating around. AJP claims it to be shade that is different that their WWII Ford Boxed engine components for M-8 and GPW apopear to be. My Crated July 45 GPW engine and all the parts I have opened over the yrars appear to have a greenish hue to tnem and not that of the tractor gray from the 40s. I have found a factory industrial machinery paint similar to the GPW color I have been privy to since the 40s. and will mail you a spray can just to give you an idea. It is a lot closer than Ford Gray. I would believe that the color we see on used GPW engines was from use, but the NOS parts were the same shade. I'll let you research it.
