Still in progress but spent all vacation doing very little on this but now Im picking up pace with my axles. Did miss a few bearings that I thought I had… OTW from Wildenberg in Holland. Been prepping hubs for assembly with new drums. Drums and hubs are mated and needs to go in the brake late in a week or two. I need two cups of the large type for two of my four hubs, cups needs to go in as the brake late centers hubs with cups in place.

I used a product called StripAll, takes out both rust and paint.

A question or two..

I bought diff internal gears for 9-5/8 to do a complete rebuild of my axles.
I got the pins for the cap out and managed to turn the big cap 1 or maybe 1_1/2 turns. Used heat on the case but it was stuck so I gave up on it.

My real question is, would it ever be a need to replace these internal gears, do they get bad in the first place? Excluding rusted up internals…

I have found the gears are usually good but the side thrust washers are fibrous and usually no good. Veteran vehicles rebuild these diffs and will sell bronze washers to replace the stock fibrous type. big improvement. They will have any other parts you may need as well. Bob Stahl recently passed away but his son is still continuing on with the biz. They are the gurus or these diffs.

if you cant get hold of him I think vintage power wagons also has the bronze washers
