Where does the spring terminate at the body of the vehicle? Floorboard? Firewall?
The manual doesn't show it...

Floorboard, has a bolt through it that you hook the spring to.

Thanks, TD- yes, I have that bolt through the floorboard. Unfortunately, the prior owner must have used a pretty strong spring, as that area is tearing away from the rest of the floorboard.
I assume that the spring has a closed loop on one end, and an open hook on the other...

My bolt has a hole drilled side ways through the bolt head. the spring has 2 open ends.

G,Day . The dodge people used a slot headed screw , with a hole through the thread . It was put through the hole from the crew side ,then the nut was put on the thread ., possibly with lock washer {Engine side } .Then the spring was placed through the hole in the thread . Then the floor board was placed in place , and the other end of spring placed on accelerator return . Hope this help,s Ray

Should there be just ONE spring, or is it a doubled (one inside the other) arrangement? With only one the pedal feels too light- With two, the pedal feels right, but I cannot move the throttle knob out!

G ,Day Scott . Seem,s like a lot of trouble to use 2 springs when 1 will do . I think that Dodge would only use 1. Just cut a bit of the spring and stretch it . It will give you a lot more tension ,which in turn should make your accelerator pedal feel heavier . Ray

SNL G-657 shows part number 108630(1/8"X7/8") plain cotter pin used on all models from T-202 up through 1942 T-214. Granted this book was published in 1943 I believe so maybe they upgraded the cotter pin to a bolt. I have used the cotter pin set up on my 1941 WC 1/2 ton and in 30 years of driving it around have never had the cotter pin take a c... on me.
