Re: Ambulances with Winches ?
Ambulances or carryalls NEVER came with factory winches, and were only installed by misguided MV'ers.

When Brian (divingrocks) says Mv'ers, what he really means is "Real men who like Winches".

Re: Ambulances with Winches ?
This truck does seem to have a very nice interior with lots of ambulance only parts. I believe the seats are wrong but everything else looks good. Hey the winch might come in handy someday. Jeff

Re: Ambulances with Winches ?
Sorry guys, the wheel base is significantly different between ambulances and most other WC's. Putting a the incorrect parts on an MV amounts to artistic expression (limp-wristed), and not restoration.2ad82recon wrote:Guys is it possible to mount an ambulance body to a WC52 chassis with no modifications....? as i cant see any mounting plates to join the winch to the chassis...

Re: Ambulances with Winches ?
I consider the SIREN and Winch added to this RARE early production Carryall rather flamboyant indeed!

Re: Ambulances with Winches ?
This thing has a number of issues, seats are completely incorrect, as is the spotlight, gerry cans/holders and '"wanko" bracket on roof.2ad82recon wrote:http://www.milweb.net/classifieds/large ... 6084&cat=3

Re: Ambulances with Winches ?
Ok, let me wade in here.
Now, this could be a "correct" military vehicle and not one that has been "installed by misguided MVers".
First, yes, no winch model WC-54s were made. But! does that make this one incorrect? Did this WC54 get the winch during a depot rebuild???? Back in the 1980s I saw, and came very close to buying a WC54 with winch. It was a correct military vehicle. During the Depot rebuild for a French Crash Crew it was rebuilt with a winch. I do not look into the frame or how it was done. I was just crushed that I had missed it.....
As for the front seats, this was VERY commom during the rebuilds after WWII to take out the ambulance seats and put in WC 51/52 seats.
Is this ambulance correct for WWII, No, post war years, yes.
Would I buy it? YES! if it was here in the States.

Re: Ambulances with Winches ?
As Frank pointed out, if you want to have a properly restored WWII Vehicle, all the poofter (Frankoesque) modifications need to go.2ad82recon wrote:"Rocks" my man are you saying i should keep "my powder dry" on this bastardization....?

Re: Ambulances with Winches ?
looking closer at the ambulance pictures I have discovered that the winch was improperly installed compared to the carryall. The carryall has the proper short grille and two piece front bumper..the ambulance has had it's winch "grafted" on without the proper accompanying parts.

Re: Ambulances with Winches ?
G,Day all .Just my 2 cents worth .Post ww2 power wagons had an extension piece for the Mu2 winch that could be retro fitted if required .These extensions could be attached to all 3/4 ton dodges also . I think that is what Gordon has done with his wc53 . Ray
