Pre- WWII GMC on Ebay

Post by Forgotten Field »

I like this truck because it was a National Guard truck (my friend drove these before WWII) but also because these went to the French before WWII and early in the war. They then were used by the WWII German Army when captured.

At least the seller is getting more realistic.
Last week the truck was on ebay for $5000, now it is $2500.
When he gets down to around $1000. maybe Jeff Chester will buy it :D

There were a couple of these, complete, in France, on MILWEB recently, now gone.

Nice truck, but better if it was complete like the French ones. Even finding a few of the correct early wheels wont be easy.
Gordon, in Scotland

My garage: Restored Old Henry, and have had this WC51 on the road around 3 years now... Currently finishing a brace of Ben Hur trailers, and starting a 67 Galaxie fastback. Concurrent with the WC I restored a 74 TR6... Oh the joys.

Yes, it is sad looking, but it is also very much worth saving....
Better '39 chevy cabs and sheetmetal do come around for sale, but that running gear doesn't too often.
If it was a $1000 less and in Texas I'd be on this truck like a fat kid on a lolipop. :D
Thanks, David

This guy's got to be "Off the Beam" if he thinks he'll get $1500 for it. The cab is 110% shot. Look at the frame, there is probably rust through on it no doubt. Where was this truck used, running up and down some Pacific ocean beach? What a shame. :(

From the color of the truck, looks like it might have been some sort of Fire Fighting truck during it's civilian life. Just a guess though.

It's back on at $900 and seller states if it does not sell he will scrap it. So who is going to save it then

Hi.
As I said earlier, If it was closer I would salvage it for the drivetrain, but....
What we are seeing here is US military history going away before our eyes.
