Can anyone ID the end use application of this Delco Remy distributor for a 4 cylinder - Part Number 1111733 ?
Definitely seems 1940's era in terms of packaging.

Re: Delco Remy Distributor ID
Robo the distributor is for a 1955 - 56 John Deere combine 45 with a Hercules JX4C-3 4 cylinder engine. I have an extensive library on Delco Remy electrical parts from the 1920's to the 1960's. If you or anyone else need information please let me know. I will search further to see if the distributor fits other engines.

Make sure he has set crankshaft to top dead centre on compression stroke of number 1 cylinder.
And that rotor is pointing towards number 1 distrib cap terminal - about 7 oclock position.
Timing can be advanced a bit more than in ww2 manuals.
What is the exact nature of the trouble he is experiencing ?
