1941 Ford-Darley Class 500 Fire Truck

Post by mjsheff »

On Tuesday, I picked up this 1941 Ford-Darley Class 500 WWII Fire Truck in Oklahoma and hauled it home. I will be restoring it back to its military colors. It runs and its body is in really good shape.

Below is a link to a YouTube video from the previous owner. Gotta love the siren!

Good looking! Put that beast back in service for brush work, and maybe you can make some money. Is it a Waterous or Hale pump? What condition is the pump in? I am very envious!

Unfortunately, the pump is cracked. One of the previous owners owned the truck for 30 years and kept the pump in good condition but when he fell ill, the truck became neglected, the pump froze and cracked. Fortunately, Darley is still in business in Melrose Park, IL, near where I grew up. When I figure out what parts I need for the pump, I'll contact Darley.
