Here is a pic of 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton WCs being assembled at the Mound Road truck plant.

Sorry, had to do it the old fashioned way. I always assumed they would retool and end production before they started a new design.

this is probably not an assembly line...perhaps reinspections or rework of rejected trucks. I don't see any 6x6's in the pic, and the 51 has the later type extended brush guard with factory fender mount blackout light indicating August of 42 production...1/2 ton production ended months before.

Yep. what he said, especially if there is a 6 x 6 in there which is even later.

I also don't believe any WC6's were produced in '42, only in '41.

I've seen another picture of the assembly line and the building is totally differant in fact having a much higher roof. Part of the photo posted here appears in 'Dodge WW2 Military Portfolio' published by Brooklands Books. In this book there is another photo of Mound Rd plant showing WC54 and WC51/52 and a Carryall on the assembly line. The much bigger and more open building is obvious. There is referance in the text to a new building being erected as the original boxing plant was very cramped. No date is given for the new facility but gives the impression it was around 1943. Could this be where the photo was taken?

The three trucks behind the WC51 in the center line with the directional tires are WC-55's. The lazyback seat in the bed has a shorter back than on the WC-51 in front of it.

Other captions I have seen on this date it around June 1942.
