Fuel Line Terminations

Post by BrianT »

Hi guys, I'm just in the process of running the brake and fuel lines in my Lohner WC51. Does anyone have a photo of the fuel line terminations at the fuel filter or can describe at what height in the chassis rails the socket ends.
I know from the TM the location in plan layout but not the height. Without having the cab mounted and the filter fixed I am unable to judge the height of the terminations. I don't want to end up with the flexi lines in and out of the filter either too short or too long and I do need the fuel line in before mounting the engine.

Any help appreciated.
Brian

Hi David, thanks once more for your ongoing help. Those measurements- are they the from the fuel filter intake/outlet to the top of the chassis rail?
If so I need to measure my flexi's and then calculate where the fixed line ends should be height wise.

Cheers
Brian

The measurements were taken from the top of the chassis rail closest point, not dead vertical as the rail curves down although there would be very little difference.
The upper datum was half way across the threaded opening of the right angle adaptors. These fittings point forward and down and I figured that half way across the opening the hose fitting screwed into would be very close to the extreme end of the hoses overall length.
Any slight variation could be made up by altering the curve radius of the solid lines.

My garage: Restored Old Henry, and have had this WC51 on the road around 3 years now... Currently finishing a brace of Ben Hur trailers, and starting a 67 Galaxie fastback. Concurrent with the WC I restored a 74 TR6... Oh the joys.

Thanks Scott, it get's pretty busy in that area. I don't think they could have stuffed anything else in.
Where is the last securing point on each of the fixed tubes?

Cheers,
Brian

Pretty much down on the frame itself... The routing is "interesting"... Front pipe comes back, angles in and up, to meet the hose. The rear pipe- from the tank- hits a union right behind the master cylinder, then comes up, and over the left side brake pedal mounting then back down, under the MC, then up directly in front of the inside bolt- which has a bracket for it...Image

Thanks again Scott, what a tortured route those lines take around the pedal, steering and m/c!

Cheers
